This article outlines the available methods for connecting a single Illustra camera to two servers at the same time. This is useful for environments where two recording or monitoring systems need simultaneous access to the same camera feed.

Solution
Option 1 — Recommended Method (Official)
- Add the camera to Unit 1.
- On Unit 2, configure an RTSP stream using the camera’s RTSP URL. https://support.exacq.com/#/knowledge-base/article/23457
- Unit 1 maintains full camera control; Unit 2 receives the stream passively.
Option 2 — Dual Add After Final Configuration
- Add the camera to Unit 1.
- Complete all required configuration changes on Unit 1 first (e.g., resolution, stream settings, exposure, motion detection, etc.).
- Add the same camera to Unit 2.
- Do not modify any camera settings after this point, as changes made by one unit can affect the other.
Option 3 — Split Streams (Main + Secondary Stream)
- Add the main stream to Unit 1.
- Add the secondary (lower‑resolution) stream to Unit 2.
- On Unit 2, disable use of the main stream so it only consumes the low‑bandwidth stream.
