Pro 4 PTZ Performance Mode Settings

The Pro4 PTZ camera is equipped with Direct Drive Pan and Tilt motors which are very different to any previous PTZ cameras. The camera needs to be tightly fixed to a firm mount, e.g. JCI mount, and the mount tightly fixed to a firm structure or the Pan and/or Tilt motors may oscillate. One reason the pan or tilt motor’s may oscillate is when the Pro4 PTZ is powered on while it sits in the foam packaging.

During Pro4 PTZ start-up, the Pan and Tilt motors will do a calibration routine. This includes alternating the Pan movement backwards and forwards and the Tilt movement upwards and downwards, to complete the homing routine.

After Pro4 PTZ installation, if either Pan or Tilt axis’s start to oscillate it means that there is too much movement in the mount or mounting structure affecting the Pan or Tilt operation, especially in the idle position. To help resolve the problem, adjust the camera Performance Mode from “Advanced” to “Normal”. This reduces the motor torque very slightly to counteract the moving camera mount or mounting structure.
