SSA-SYNC Individual vs Aggregate

SSA-SYNC is a way to bring all licenses in a Batch to a common SSA end date without having to buy full-year increments of SSA.

  • License 1 has 47 Enterprise IP channels and an SSA end date of 2018-09-01
  • License 2 has 6 Professional IP channels and an SSA end date of 2021-10-15
  • License 3 has 4 Professional IP channels and an SSA end date of 2021-11-10

The desired outcome is for all licenses to have an SSA end date of 2022-12-31
In order to bring these 3 licenses to 2022-12-31, we need to use custom (partial-year) SSA as opposed to whole-year increments.

License 1 needs 1,582 days of SSA to bring the SSA end date to 2022-12-31
1,582 days of Enterprise SSA for 47 channels would cost $9,166.93, but we can reduce that using “Current Version”.
“Current Version” brings the license to the next exacqVision version date for a fixed price – in this case, $466.00
The next Current Version date is 2021-12-14, so we compare the SSA price to that date to the Current Version price:
The number of days from 2018-09-01 to 2021-12-14 is 1200
1200 days of Enterprise SSA for 47 channels is $6,953.43
Calculated as such: Enterprise SSA = $45.00 per year x 47 channels = $2,115.00 per year, divided by 365 = $5.794521 per day.
1200 days x $5.794521 = $6,953.43
The Current Version price of $466 is less than that, so we’ll use that to get the license to 2021-12-14, and then regular SSA to get it the rest of the way to 2022-12-31
The SSA price from 2021-12-14 to 2022-12-31 (382 days) is $5.794521 per day x 382 days = $2213.51

The total SSA price for License 1 is: $466.00 + $2,213.51 = $2,679.51

License 2 needs 442 days to get its 6 channels to 2022-12-31
It’s a Professional license, so that’s $30.00 per year x 6 channels = $180.00 per year divided by 365 = $0.4931507 per day.
442 days x $0.4931507 per day = $217.97

The total SSA price for License 2 is: $217.97

License 3 needs 416 days to get its 4 channels to 2022-12-31
It’s also a Professional license, so that’s $30.00 per year x 4 channels = $120.00 per year divided by 365 = $0.3287671 per day.
416 days x $0. 3287671 per day = $136.77

The total SSA price for License 3 is: $136.77

The total SSA price to bring all 3 licenses to 2022-12-31 is: $2,679.51 + $217.97 + $136.77 = $3,034.25

SSA-SYNC uses the aggregate price of the custom SSA for all licenses to determine the SSA-SYNC quantity.
For this example, the aggregate price of custom SSA for all licenses is $3,034.25
We round it down to the nearest hundred: 30.34
We remove any digits to the right of the decimal to arrive at the SSA-SYNC quantity: 30
We then multiply the SSA-SYNC quantity by the SSA-SYNC MSRP of $100.00 to get the price $3,000.00

This saves the customer some money when syncing licenses to the same date.  The most you can save per order is $99.99
Sometimes you can only save $1.00 – it depends on what the total aggregate custom SSA price is:

  • $3,034.25 saves $34.25
  • $3,001.00 saves $1.00
  • $3,099.99 saves $99.99
  • $3,000.00 saves $0.00

All of the above will produce an SSA-SYNC quantity of 30, which will be $3,000.00 when multiplied by the SSA-SYNC MSRP of $100.00.

How to export a list of Server MACs and Licenses

For enterprise installations with many servers, a single .CSV file with all Server MAC addresses and license keys can be generated by ExacqVision. This file can be imported and applied to all the servers for bulk license updating or used for checking/ordering license changes and SSA extensions.

From Configuration mode, on the Systems page, click Export Licenses and browse to the location where you wish to save the .CSV file.

Updating the license keys in the .CSV file allows you to later upload the revised .CSV file, using Import License should you choose, to update the licenses on several servers at once.

C-Cure Integration License

In order to fully integrate with C-Cure 9000 Versions 2.80 or later an additional license is required.  The license can be requested from the CCURE’s licensing system via part number CC9WS-EXACQMON.  After proper application, this license will show up in the CCURE “Licensing” application as “Exacq Analytics for CCURE 9000”.

Here is an example:

Which MAC address can I license?

Which Network Interface Card can I license?

The exacqVision software reads the MAC addresses for all network interfaces seen by the computer’s operating system and verifies that the license file matches the MAC address from one of the enabled NICs.

For more information on licenses, see:
How is ExacqVision NVR software licensed?

NOTE: The interface with the licensed MAC address must be enabled in the operating system.

<br>

What If my NIC’s are Bonded or Teamed?

You can still license the MAC address of any one of the NIC’s installed on the system including the MAC of the Bonded/Teamed NIC.

<br>

Can I license a virtual MAC address?

Yes, you can license any Network Interface Card or Virtual MAC address.

NOTE: If using VMware ESXi virtual environment, it is advised that when initially configuring this environment in order to host exacqVision systems – that a unique ID be configured for this environment (also known as “vCenter Server instance ID”). It is advised to not leave these on default settings for the locally administered MAC addresses – as these may already be in use. Leaving this on the default settings will generate MAC addresses for these virtual machines that may match systems already licensed for exacqVision use, causing potential licensing conflict.

Why Does the Subscription End Date Change When I Add Licenses?

Every new camera license comes with a one-year software subscription agreement (SSA). Because all licensed cameras must have the same subscription end date, a portion of that one-year subscription is used to match the end date of the existing cameras. Any remaining portion of that one-year SSA is then divided equally among all licensed cameras.

<br>

For example, suppose you have two IP cameras with six months remaining on their SSA, and then you add a new IP camera with a one-year SSA. Six months of the new camera’s SSA is applied to match the remaining portion of the existing cameras’ SSA. The remaining six months of the new camera’s SSA is then divided among all three cameras. Thus, each camera’s SSA is extended by two months (six months divided by three cameras equals two months). All three cameras now have an SSA that expires in eight months.

<br>

NOTE: IP cameras receive twice as much weight in these calculations as analog cameras. However, all licensed cameras have the same subscription end date regardless of whether they are analog or IP.

How do I apply a license to an exacqVision Server?

Only one license key may be applied on each system at a time. This license key includes information on the number of licensed IP Cameras the system is permitted to use as well as the specific system it is assigned to.

For information on increasing your licensed number of cameras or changing your license level, contact your authorized exacqVision dealer.

Individual License Update

To apply or update an individual system license, expand the exacqVision Server node on the navigation tree along the left-hand side of the Client window, then select Configure System.

On the System tab, the License section is found to the right. There are multiple methods available to apply a license to the software.

From Exacq.com

If your exacqVision Server has an internet connection, this is the simplest choice. This method will automatically pull the most recent license generated for the system.

  1. Press the Import button.
  2. Select ‘From exacq.com‘.

If there is a particular reason necessary for applying a license that was not the most recently generated, see the additional options below.

From File

If the server does not have an internet connection, you may use the .KEY file issued by Exacq Orders via email.

  1. Press the Import button.
  2. Select ‘From File‘.
  3. Navigate to the directory where you have saved the .KEY file to select and apply it to the system.

Manual Entry

The license key code may also be manually entered. The key code is also issued by Exacq Orders via email.

  1. Type the license key code into the License text field at the top of the license section.
  2. Press the Apply button.

All keys are displayed in XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XX alphanumeric format.

<br>

Batch License Update

A .KEY license and corresponding key code may be used on a single exacqVision Server, whereas a properly formatted .CSV file can be used to license multiple exacqVision servers with a single import. This method is useful for enterprise environments managing many servers.

  1. Create a new file (using a spreadsheet program or hand written text file to be formatted as CSV) where each row contains the system’s licensed MAC address in the first column and the license key code for that MAC address in the second column. If using Excel to create this table, be sure to save as .CSV.
  2. Select the Systems node from the very top of the navigation tree on the left-hand side of the exacqVision Client.
  3. Below the Systems list panel, select the Import License button.
  4. Navigate to the location of your .CSV file to select and apply.

You may also utilize the Export Licenses button to export a properly formatted .CSV containing this information for connected systems, which may be useful for keeping site records. If updating licenses rather than licensing for the first time, edit the exported file for later import to save time.
