Purpose: This article explains the process of adding a hot spare to an existing array. This guide assumes that a new drive is added to at least one unused drive bay for use as a hot spare.
- Close exacqVision client, log out of the user account, and log in to the admin account.
- Minimize exacqVision Client and open the LSI MegaRAID Storage manager from Start > All Programs > MegaRAID Storage Manager > StartupUI, or by double-clicking the MegaRAID Manager icon on the Desktop (if present).
- When the Host View page opens, select the Host that comes up in the list to get the login window.
- Enter the username/password — admin/admin256 (Windows) or root/exacqvisionip (Linux) — and select Login.
- Navigate to the Physical tab next to the Dashboard tab.
- Select the new drive to be used.
- Right-click and select Assign Dedicated Hot Spare.
- Select Drive Group: 0 and then select OK.
- The icon next to the drive will changes, displaying Dedicated Hot Spare.
