How to Create a User in Kantech for Security Integration with exacqVision

Configuring an Operator to Receive Events from the EntraPass server

1. Login to the Workstation using installer credentials.

2. Add a new Workspace (System > Workspace).

    a. Select all applications, gateways, controllers, doors, relays, and inputs under their respective tabs.

        The screenshots below show the workspace permissions for the ‘exacqws’ workspace.

        All applications, gateways, controllers, doors, relays, and inputs are selected.

3. Add a new Security Level (System > Security Level).

    a. Click on the ‘New’ icon and add a new security level. This example shows we have named it ‘exacqsl’.

    b. Workstation > Operation

    c. Note that only the top-level Door, Relay, Input, and Alarm System are selected.

        The sub-items are not selected.

    d. Scroll down to Workspace > Devices. Select Door, Relay, Input, and Integrated Panel sub-items.

        Select the Read checkbox on the left, as shown.

    e. Leave all other options and sub-options to their default values.

4. Add a new Operator (System > Operator).

    a. Create a new operator ‘exacquser’. Remember to enable ‘Concurrent Logins’ settings as this will

        allow you to connect from multiple servers using the same operator credentials.

    b. On the Security tab, select the ‘Login schedule’ and set it to use ‘Always valid’.

        This will allow an exacqVision Server to always remain connected to EntraPass and receive events.

    c. For the ‘Security level’ and ‘Workspace’ fields, select the security level and workspace you created in the steps above. Leave all other options to their default values.

Configuring an Operator to Send Commands to EntraPass

To increase the security of the exacqVision – EntraPass integration, exacqVision clients require the credentials for a “more privileged” operator if they wish to perform output actions. Some operators may not have the permission to access certain doors, in which case, the controls for performing certain actions are hidden/disabled from the user. It is still possible that an operator is permitted to view that door, but they may not have the security level to unlock a door. This information is currently unavailable to exacqVision Server at this time, so when an operator tries to unlock a given door, that operation will fail.

To create additional operators with additional security levels on EntraPass, repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 above with the following adjustments.

1. Uncheck restricted doors from the list of doors (or relays, inputs, etc.) in the ‘Create New Workspace’ section. In the screenshot below an operator can only access two out of the nine doors configured.

2. Under System > Security Level > Workstation, make sure that the door lock/unlock and relay activation privileges are granted to the new user when creating a new security level. The example below shows a new security level that allows an operator to lock/unlock a door, enable/disable a door reader and activate/deactivate a relay.

3. When sending a command to EntraPass, the exacqVision Client will prompt for the second operator credentials.

4. Enter the credentials for the second operator. Only those doors, relays, and inputs that this user can access will be highlighted in the client and made available for sending commands to EntraPass.

Hard Drive Self-Test Broken On Older Linux Systems with 9.2

Symptom:

When clicking the ‘Self-Test’ button for hard drives, nothing happens.

<br>

Problem:

Introduced in exacqVision Server 9.2.1, a code change broke the self-test functionality for older Linux systems that do not have Smartctl installed.

Smartctl is not listed in the ‘Version Information’ panel on the ‘System Information’ page of the client.

<br>

Solution:

Option 1:  If license subscription allows, update the exacqVision Server version to 9.4 or higher.

Option 2:  If license subscription does not allow update, either downgrade to sever version 9.0, or install Smartctl by running the following command in Terminal:

sudo apt-get install smartctl

Unable to Edit Web Service Scheduled Update in ESM

Symptom:

When scheduling an update to a web service through ESM, a user cannot edit the scheduled update.

<br>

Problem:

Clicking on the Edit option for a scheduled update to a web service from within ESM results in an error.

This can be seen from the Web Services page when clicking to the Web Service Actions display, which will list upcoming actions.

<br>

Solution:

Update ESM to version 5.6 or higher.

Alternatively, the workaround is to delete the scheduled update and create a new scheduled update with the date/time desired.

Problem

This behavior was seen from the following Western Digital HD models when connected to LSI storage controllers.

  • WD4002FYYZ
  • WD8002FRYZ
  • WD8003FRYZ
  • WD6002FRYZ
  • WD80PUZX
  • WD101KRYZ

Exacq Mobile 3, version 9.2 May Force Re-Login

Symptom:

Exacq Mobile 3, version 9.2, forces user to re-login to server.

<br>

Problem:

If a mobile user is connected to an exacqVision Server that is on a non-default port (22609), when updating to 9.2 the information stored for that server will be reset. This includes the following:

  • Saved login credentials
  • History (Last used/Frequently used)
  • Security integration login tokens
  • Client-side views
  • Camera PTZ speed settings

<br>

Solution:

This is a one-time issue. After re-logging into the server all new settings will persist.

Samsung SPE-100/400 Causes Server Crash

Symptom:

exacqVision Server crashes when connecting to a Samsung SPE-100/400 using the native Samsung plugin.

<br>

Problem:

This encoder is only supported for use with the Onvif plugin (device type).

Additionally, the device firmware only supports HTTP version 1.0 but Live555 defaults to 1.1.

<br>

Solution:

Connect to the device with the Onvif device type on the ‘Add IP Cameras’ page.

Add the ‘#http=1.0’ override option to the ‘Hostname/IP Address’ field.

If the device IP is 192.168.0.5, change it to read 192.168.0.5#http=1.0

NotifyPI fails with cURL error 55

Symptom:

Email notifications fail to be received.

<br>

Problem:

Server logs resemble:

15/12/2016 2:54:54 PM NotifyPI Warning Profile Description: Playground. Notification attempt return code= 55

15/12/2016 2:54:54 PM NotifyPI Verbose curl: (55) MAIL failed: 530

15/12/2016 2:54:54 PM NotifyPI Error Failed to send notification using profile Playground. This message will be retried

This is caused by missing data from compliance with RFC5321. This will cause failure with some SMTP servers, but not others, depending on how they accommodate the message.

<br>

Solution:

Option 1:  If license subscription allows, update exacqVision Server version to 8.8 or higher.

Option 2:  If license subscription does not allow update to 8.8 or higher, use an alternative Email/SMTP server.
