Cannot connect more than 52 E-Series encoders to a server

Affected platforms

exacqVision 4.10 to 7.0 (E-Series support introduced in 6.4)

<br>

Symptom

When attempting to add the 53rd E-Series encoder to a server, the 53rd E-Series will not connect. On Linux platforms the server will crash.

<br>

Workaround

If no Arecont, Illustra or UDP devices are being used on that server, install exacqVision development build 7.1.3402.84249. During the installation, uncheck the Arecont, illustra3 and UDP plugins at the “Select Components to Install” step.

<br>

Resolution

Fix expected in exacqVision 7.2

A Windows server may crash when attempting to delete old audit trail files

Affected platforms

exacqVision Server version 7.0.3 or earlier, on Windows systems

<br>

Symptom

If the system drive free space falls below 100MB or exacqVision need to delete old audit logs to honor the maximum days setting, exacqVision will attempt to prune the audit trail logs and can crash if any audit log files are locked open by another process.

<br>

Workaround

Do not set a maximum audit log retention time, and ensure the system has more than 100MB of free space on the system drive.

<br>

Resolution

Update to exacqVision Server 7.2.0.85081 or higher

exacqVision admin shows “Live+Search” privileges after importing exacqVision license

Affected platforms

exacqVision 4.6.3 to 7.0 on Linux Ubuntu 10.04 or 12.04

<br>

Symptom

Immediately after importing a license key from an unlicensed state, the group for the admin user changes to Live + Search.

A client using Admin access is not impacted and can continue to perform admin tasks even after closing and re-opening the client, however the web service will not connect to the server using the admin credentials while the system is in this state.

Note: The useraccounts.xml file is not changed due to this issue. It will consistently showed the correct admin privileges.

<br>

Workaround

The admin users group returns to Full Admin after either stopping and starting the exacqVision Server or rebooting the server. Web Server will then connect using the admin credentials.

<br>

Resolution

Fixed in exacqVision 7.2

Unable to bookmark some events

Affected platforms

exacqVision 7.1 or prior

<br>

Symptom

When trying to bookmark event data from the Search Events page, the resulting bookmark does not display the events you were trying to preserve. This issue affects systems that  have a large number of event linking objects (Associations or other types) or have created and deleted event linking objects many times.

<br>

Workaround

If the system has less than 255 event linkages, delete all the linkages (or delete eventpi.xml) and re-create them.

<br>

Resolution

Resolved in version 7.1.x.x

ONVIF plugin memory leak: Motion and alarm events received via metadata streaming could cause crash

Affected platforms

exacqVision 5.4 or later

<br>

Symptom

When certain cameras are connected using the ONVIF plugin and the plugin is configured to use metadata streaming to receive motion and alarm events, a memory leak is possible. If memory usage increases enough exacqVision can crash. The crash is typically in ntdll which show a heap memory issue.

To validate this issue is the root cause of a crash, stop the Onvif plugin from requesting a metadata stream as described in the workaround.

<br>

Workaround

Edit the /exacqVision/server/onvifnvcpi.json file to remove the manufacturer’s entry. This will result in the loss of motion-based recording, so modify the recording schedule to use free run recording.

<br>

Resolution

No fix at this time.

The status of an input on USB module not updated if already connected when module plugged into server

Affected platforms

exacqVision 5.6.0 to 7.0

<br>

Symptom

When a new usbdio board is detected while the server is running, and it already has an input plugged in, the status of the input will not be updated in the client.

<br>

Workaround

Restart the exacqVision server. This will result in a brief interruption of video recording during the restart.

<br>

Resolution

Update exacqVision to 7.2 or later.

Exacqd handle leak

Symptom:

It is possible after a very long period for the server to stop functioning, requiring a restart.

Problem:

There is a slow handle leak in exacqd introduced in server version 9.5.25/9.6.0. This handle is never used, so a slow memory leak is the result.

Windows has a limit of 16 million handles. A server that leaks 3 handles a minute would take 4 years to hit this limit. A server with many LDAP users always connected would hit this limit sooner.

Solution:

Current workaround is to downgrade to 9.4. Future versions should include fix.

Duplicate cameras returned in the camera scan results

<br>

Workaround

Connect the NIC in the disconnected state or disable the disconnected NIC.

Resolution

Update to exacqVision Server 7.2.2.86862 or higher

Illustra3 links device level connection to video stream
