Cloudvue C2C – Video File Naming Format

Description 

The C2C Gateway video file storage structure to the local SD card is as follows:

Product

Solution

/media/sd1/videos/YYYY-MM-DD/EPOCHTIME.mkv

YYYY (Year such as 2023)

MM (Month such as 01 for January)

DD (Date such as 30 for the 30th)

Each directory  (YYYY-MM-DD) contains video files recorded that day, each video file uses the naming naming convention: EPOCHTIME.mkv.

Example

/media/sd1/videos/2023-04-03/1680580755.mkv

A check of the epoch time 1680580755 shows the local recording time was Monday, April 3, 2023 11:59:15 PM.

Use a converter like https://www.epochconverter.com/ to convert the epoch time to show the human readable GMT and local time.

Preparing Illustra cameras for Network Loss Recording with exacqVision server.

Configuration steps for Network Loss Recording recording:

  • Go to the camera’s web page. Under “Event Actions”, check the “Record” option for at least one of the fault action Names.
  • Under Analytics, Client the “Action” dropdown and select the Name you just enabled above.
  • Ensure a Micro SD card is installed to the camera, then go to the Edge recording section. Format the SD card with vfat from the “SD Card Management” tab.
    NOTE: Don’t check the “Encrypt entire contents of the SDcard”
  • In “Record Settings”, Check the box for “Enable Event Record” and select the “Record Source” that exacqVision is currently recording. Set the Pre and Post to 10 seconds.
  • Under “Offline Record Settings”, set the NVR IP address to which the camera is connected, then set the pre and post-seconds.
  • Disconnect and re-connect to the camera in in exacqVision on the “Add IP Cameras” page
  • To confirm that the camera is now storing recordings for exacqVision to request, (back in the camera’s web GUI) go to the Event Download tab. Confirm that there is a new file with the appropriate time stamps..

Note: There must be motion during the downtime to have the camera record to the SD card. The resulting file will be requested by exacqVision after re-connection.

Note:Network loss recording will not be triggered on a Server restart only motion can be triggered for this event.

Cloudvue Manager Falsely Reports the SD Card as not Formatted

Description 

It has been observed that for certain cameras Cloudvue Manager will falsely report the status of the SD card as “SD card is not formatted correctly. Format it as vfat”. Use the following instructions to resolve.

  • Cloudvue Software version 22.4.1
  • Build Number 71
  • Build Date 07/26/2022, 8:07pm

Steps to Reproduce 

  • Access the video device via Cloudvue Manager
  • Expand Disk Space

Expected Results 

  • The SD Card is Healthy

Actual Results 

The SD Card status is red and the SD Card Message is “SD Card is not formatted correctly. Format it as vfat.” Note: While in this state the SD Card will not mount and video will not record to the SD card

Solution

From the available command options select Reboot System

Click OK when prompted “Are you sure you want to reboot this device?”

Wait 2-3 minutes before refreshing/reloading the web page.

If you refresh the page and do not see all the command options normally available like the following. The reboot has not completed, and you should wait a few more minutes before reloading the page.

Once the update is complete expand Disk Space and confirm that the SD is now healthy

Additional Notes

  • It has been found that updating the device essentially toggles the state of the SD Card from healthy to not and back again.
  • Existing video stored on the SD card does not seem to be impacted by updating however no new video is recorded to the card while in the bad state.

‘Recording Not Possible’ Status on ExacqVision Edge Illustra

Description

The status of the storage page is showing “Recording Not Possible” on ExacqVision Edge for some Illustra cameras.  This is a result of SD encryption mode being enabled on the camera.

Steps to Reproduce 

Install the Edge software on the camera, and then try to record video to the SD card. 

Expected Results 

The video will record without an issue and the status on the Storage page will be healthy 

Actual Results 

No video is recorded and the storage page shows a status of  “Recording Not Possible” 

Solution

By default SD card encryption is enabled and to resume normal operations must be disabled. 

  • Log in to the camera Web GUI and select Setup on the Web User Interface banner to display the setup menus.
  • Select SD Card Management from the Edge Recording menu
  • Disable encryption mode  Note: Any change to the encryption status requires the SD card to be formatted,
  • Format the SD card by selecting Format and select Mount to mount the encrypted SD card
  • Re-install ExacqVision Edge
  • Verify “Recording Not Possible” message is no longer present on the
