Artificial Intelligence Object Classification Event Triggers Filling OS Drive

Description

We have found that event links based on triggers from AI Object Classification events flood the eventPI database resulting in the OS drive being filled in a short amount of time. Periodic unexpected crashes, system reboots and increased memory usage have resulted. This happens when the amount of AI metadata captured in the eventPI database in a single day exceeds the available free space on the drive.

The following exacqVision Server log entries confirm when this issue is occurring.

Product

  • AXIS Object Analytics
  • Hanwha AI-based object detection
  • Illustra AI Object Classification
  • exacqVision Server [All versions]

Solution

Update the exacqVision Server and Client to version 23.09 or higher.

Once updated, utilize the ‘Maximum Days to Keep Bounding Box Metadata’ control. Details on this feature may be found in Maximum Days to Keep Bounding Box Metadata Explained

Samsung / Hanwha Cameras Show “Motion Not Supported”

Before being able to manage motion windows from the exacqVision Client the following actions need to be performed within the camera’s web GUI.

  1. Enable Motion Detection
  2. Create / draw detection areas
  3. Disable then re-enable the camera within the IP Cameras List on the Add IP Cameras page

You should now be able to manage existing areas and draw new areas from within the exacqVision Client

Note: It may be necessary to factory reset the camera first.

Configuring Samsung|Hanwha Camera Edge Storage for Use with Server “Network Loss Recording” Feature

Steps to configure Edge Storage (SD card) recording on the camera web page:

NOTE: ‘HTTP’ protocol must be used when adding the camera.

  1. Setup and format SD media from the camera setup web page (Event/Storage)
  2. SD card can be formatted to either vfat or ext4
  3. Setup the primary recording profile to the encoding format you want (Basic/Video Profile)
  4. Recording format on Event/Storage page will automatically reflect the primary profile format from the earlier setup.
  5. Record on event can then be set in the “Event Setup” tab for motion or any analytic event on record.
  6. Recorded video may then be reviewed from the playback tab.

Verification

  1. The SD card may be examined to confirm the camera populates recordings locally.
  2. To confirm or test the “Network Loss Recording” function, a network disconnection that does not cause the camera itself to lose power will need to be simulated. When the camera connection is re-established, the server will indicate entries in the server logs and begin to copy the video files from the camera.
