License Error: Server Rejected License Upgrade. Please Fix and Try Again

Causes

Upon Server start, we scan for all enabled NIC’s and get their MAC addresses. If no MAC is found that matches the current license, we go into unlicensed mode. The same check occurs when trying to import a new license.

  • At times a user may disable a NIC they aren’t using for communication, but when this takes place it also removes it from our license check.
  • Also sometimes the MAC address may not match when they requested the license.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check to make sure Internet Access is Available
  2. Make sure MAC Address matches the MAC Address registered to License
  • If you are not sure of MAC Address, to confirm:
    • On Windows OS open Command Prompt:
      • Type: ipconfig /all
    • On Linux OS open Terminal:
      • Type: ip a
  • After your query, confirm MAC Address is correct.

3. Make sure NIC has not been Disabled by checking Network Connections

  • Go to Control Panel
    • Click Network and Internet
    • Click on Network Sharing Center
    • Click on Change Adapter Settings
  • Right Click on NIC in use
    • If Disabled:
      • Go to Services
      • Right Click on exacqVision Server and Restart
      • Go back to NIC and Re-Enable

CSV Imports Exceeding IP Licenses

For the multi head camera when imported from a CSV file the client uses 4 camera licenses and not just one. This is true for all other manufactured multi head camera on the system in .CSV

Previously we did not support this in our client. Dev build 21.09.2294700.0 included the following fix:
Enhancement – Added support for importing cameras with multiple inputs.

This is the Licensing Miscalculation Referred to.

One problem you might encounter is that when adding the input to the CSV file it should not say INPUT 1, 2,3,4. to allow the Input Name to show up correctly.

The input name should only be 1,2,3,4.
See below example:

The reason why is that we convert that field to a number and when the camera comes back we match that number to the input number on the camera to determine if it’s the right input to set the name on.

Below is an example of what happened after we included the ability to import multi head cameras into the import of the CSV file.

Select the CSV file under “Camera Import” and it correctly identifies the columns (including Input) as shown in Fig 1.

The client correctly counts the camera as only one license. Though it says it imported 4 Cameras and confirmed it only used a single license shown in Fig 2.

The camera shows up only one time in the “Add IP Cameras” list. Fig 3.

The camera correctly shows four inputs under the “Camera Recording”. But it did not import the names. Fig 4.

As seen in Fig 3 The INPUT Column need to only add 1,2,3,4 and Not Input1,2,3,4.

How To Export/Import Client Settings File on a Client Computer

You may export your client settings for import on another client system. Importing client settings saves time in making manual changes to each client instance. Client settings include things such as systems listed on the ‘Add Systems’ page, joystick settings, theme settings.

Whether exporting or importing the client settings file, this is found in Configuration mode of the client. Select ‘Add Systems’ from the navigation panel on the left.

Choose the ‘Import/Export’ tab on the bottom-half of the page under the System List.

From this tab you may choose to Export your client settings to an INI file, which may then be imported from this same location on another client system.

If you have several users on the same client machine this file can also be imported into the client for each user. Client settings are saved “by user”. This means that even if two people are using the same machine, if they log into two different user accounts within Windows, Linux, or the Mac operating system they can have different client settings.

There is also an option for Automatic Import. This may be desirable to update the server list for multiple client machines automatically when you have several clients to administer and/or wish to update this list for your users as changes are made.

<br>

Options for Automatic Import include:

  • File on startup:  This is useful for environments with access to a shared folder on a system or network. You may place an exported INI file with your desired settings here and each time the client opens it will import the file and any changes that were made to it.
  • URL on startup:  Similar to the ‘File on startup’ option this may be useful for clients in a remote location to access your exported INI file made available on your web server.
  • Synchronize with ESM:  This option requires an Enterprise license and an ESM server and will update your client’s server list based on the systems listed in ESM.
