Are All ONVIF-conformant Cameras Compatible with ExacqVision Systems?

The streaming profile of ONVIF (Profile S) provides a standard interface for streaming video and audio between conformant devices (cameras or encoders) and clients (VMS). The ExacqVision VMS is listed as an ONVIF Profile S-conformant client.

Extensive testing with a wide variety of ONVIF Profile S-conformant cameras has revealed enough inconsistency that Exacq does not explicitly declare support for all Profile S cameras for use with ExacqVision. Only the IP cameras listed in the Exacq IP Camera Integration database are officially compatible and supported for use with ExacqVision. Cameras not listed in the camera database should not be considered compatible with ExacqVision, even if they are Profile S-conformant.

If you are interested in using an ONVIF Profile S-conformant camera that is not listed in our camera database, please submit an integration request on the IP camera integration web page by clicking “Can’t Find Camera?”

Replacing XDVR drivers with SDVR drivers on Linux-based exacqVision Systems

If you have an Linux-based exacqVision system (such as exacqVision EL) that requires SDVR drivers, but you mistakenly installed XDVR drivers, you must remove the XDVR drivers before installing the SDVR drivers. There are two equal ways to remove the XDVR drivers; use the one that you prefer or have better access to:

  1. In Terminal, type sudo apt-get purge xdvapi .
  2. In Synaptic Package Manager, search for xdvapi, right-click its entry, and select Completely Remove.

Now you can proceed with installing the SDVR drivers.

No Audio from PC Speaker on Linux-Based exacqVision Systems

If you cannot hear audio on Linux-based exacqVision (eV) systems, try adjusting the volume setting on the front speaker (the default setting is for this volume is zero). To adjust the volume setting, complete the following steps:

  1. Exit the eV Client software and log out of the user account.
  2. Log in to Linux using an administrator account.
  3. In the bottom-right corner of the main window, left-click the speaker icon and select Open Volume Control from the pop-up menu.
  4. Make sure Mute is NOT selected for the Master or Front volume settings. You can tell that Mute is selected if the speaker icon below the settings’ slider bars is obscured by a red “x.”
  5. Move the Master and Front volume settings sliders up.
  6. Test the audio in eV Client.
  7. If necessary, repeat these steps to change the volume settings to an appropriate level.

Default Windows User Accounts on Exacq Systems

When setting up a new Exacq system, the out-of-box experience will prompt you to create a default operating system account. This account will be given administrative privileges.

Additional user accounts may be created using the Kiosk scripts available on the Desktop. Kiosk user accounts have restricted privileges. The Kiosk account is blocked from all operating system functions and the user can only close the exacqVision Client and log out of the operating system account. This prevents the Kiosk user from shutting down the system, opening web browsers, or from starting and installing other applications while logged in as the Kiosk user. You are given the option to automatically log into the system with the Kiosk user account during creation of the account.

If you license exacqVision software and install it on your own computer, this script is not available, and you are responsible for configuring all operating system accounts and privileges.
