Factory default E-Series encoders not discoverable on Una LC-Series server

Affected platforms

Una LC-Series with exacqVision 7.2
Symptom

Factory default E-Series encoders are discoverable through UPnP on the same subnet, but do not respond to WS-Discovery requests across subnets unless a DHCP server is present. On an Una POE port a DHCP server does not exist, so discovery only works on the same subnet, and the default subnet does not match the default UNA POE port subnet.
Workarounds

– Discover the encoder with the encoder’s native discovery tool and change the address to match the subnet of the UNA POE port
or
– Plug the encoder and the server into another network with DHCP services to discover the camera and manually address the encoder from the encoder’s webpage. Change the encoder’s address to match the subnet of one of the POE ports and move the camera to that port.

E-Series failed to set constant bitrate

Description

Seems to happen with context stream on e-series encoder. The range on constant bitrate mode could be set to invalid ragne of 32-1024 instead of 32-8192. So with bitrate set to something like 2048 would the bitrate out of range error and failed to set. Also in this case, the stream setting would also drop to “constant quality” setting.
Tested Version

8.0.0.102418
Steps to reproduce

 1. E-Series(tested unit 00-50-F9-E8-09-64 10.16.13.96)
 2. add context stream for input 1
 3. set context stream to h264/constant quality/ apply
 4. change the context h264 stream to “Constant Bitrate” and 2048kbps
 5. change context stream to jpeg and apply.
 6. change context stream back to h264 and apply with constant bitrate set to 2048kbps.
Expected result

Constant bitrate is correctly applied.
Actual result

– the bitrate range is set to 32-1024

– failed to set constant bitrate

– Rate Control selection is set to “Constant Quality”

E-Series/Hikvision: Unable to disable primary stream or enable Audio Input

Description

Cannot disable/enable Primary Stream or enable Audio input.
Version Introduced

r102253
Platform

All
Steps to reproduce

Add E-series encoder or Hikvision camera and attempt to disable or re-enable primary stream.
Add E-series encoder or Hikvision camera and attempt to enable Audio stream.
Expected result

Enable and disable should do as advertised.
Actual result

Primary stream disable disconnects but check mark reappears making it impossible to re-enable the stream.
When attempting to enabling Audio, the check mark is just cleared.
Work Around

For unable to restart primary stream, restart server.
For Enable Audio, no workaround.
Version Fixed

Cannot connect more than 52 E-Series encoders to a server

Affected platforms

exacqVision 4.10 to 7.0 (E-Series support introduced in 6.4)
Symptom

When attempting to add the 53rd E-Series encoder to a server, the 53rd E-Series will not connect. On Linux platforms the server will crash.
Workaround

If no Arecont, Illustra or UDP devices are being used on that server, install exacqVision development build 7.1.3402.84249. During the installation, uncheck the Arecont, illustra3 and UDP plugins at the “Select Components to Install” step.
Resolution

Fix expected in exacqVision 7.2

E-Series 1-channel and 4-channel Official Firmware Version

INTERNAL NOTE: E-Series Encoders are EOM and non-NDAA compliant devices.
Some E-series encoders are having trouble with network communication. Attempts to connect with ExacqVision server, E-series utility or even find using ARP commands fail.
It was found that some encoders were shipped with firmware 1.2.0.150420 pre-installed. This firmware is for testing only.
The official firmware release for the 1-channel and 4-channel Exacq E-Series encoders is 1.2.0.140801.
