Issue in client with higher resolution cameras

When using a 4K camera with a resolution of 8192X1728 or 4096X864 the video is pixelated.

Changing the resolution of the camera to 2048X432 or lower shows the image unpixellated.

This will be fixed in the December quarterly Client release 21.12.X

CSV Imports Exceeding IP Licenses

For the multi head camera when imported from a CSV file the client uses 4 camera licenses and not just one. This is true for all other manufactured multi head camera on the system in .CSV

Previously we did not support this in our client. Dev build 21.09.2294700.0 included the following fix:
Enhancement – Added support for importing cameras with multiple inputs.

This is the Licensing Miscalculation Referred to.

One problem you might encounter is that when adding the input to the CSV file it should not say INPUT 1, 2,3,4. to allow the Input Name to show up correctly.

The input name should only be 1,2,3,4.
See below example:

The reason why is that we convert that field to a number and when the camera comes back we match that number to the input number on the camera to determine if it’s the right input to set the name on.

Below is an example of what happened after we included the ability to import multi head cameras into the import of the CSV file.

Select the CSV file under “Camera Import” and it correctly identifies the columns (including Input) as shown in Fig 1.

The client correctly counts the camera as only one license. Though it says it imported 4 Cameras and confirmed it only used a single license shown in Fig 2.

The camera shows up only one time in the “Add IP Cameras” list. Fig 3.

The camera correctly shows four inputs under the “Camera Recording”. But it did not import the names. Fig 4.

As seen in Fig 3 The INPUT Column need to only add 1,2,3,4 and Not Input1,2,3,4.

Enabling Legacy Authentication Mode

*** INTERNAL USE ***

With the introduction of the new Authentication mode in exacqVision Client and Server 6.8, the temporary admin password no longer works. However, exacqVision Client includes a way to run in Legacy mode, thus enabling the temporary admin password.
This procedure should be used only by Exacq Technical Support.

Double-click on the LegacyAuthentication.xdv file, which should be associated with exacqVision Client, to open it. This file can be found in the following directories:
Windows: ../exacqVision/Client/LegacyAuthentication.xdv
OSX: ../edvrclient.app/MacOS/LegacyAuthentication.xdv
Linux: /usr/local/exacq/client/LegacyAuthentication.xdv
When this file is opened, the temporary admin password is enabled and can be reset. To enable the new Authentication mode, close and re-open exacqVision Client.

Using NFS Protocol for Archiving

Archiving using NFS protocol instead of SMB protocol is possible starting with exacqVision Server 6.9.11 and exacqVision Client 6.9.14. However, the following steps might be required to enable NFS archiving functionality.

NOTE: Existing archive target configurations cannot be changed to use NFS. In those cases, a new archive target configuration must be created.

Linux

  1. Install the nfs-common package with sudo apt-get install nfs-common
  2. Restart evServer daemon with sudo service edvrserver restart
  3. Use 6.7.x.x exacqVision Client to configure the NFS share. The share name MUST immediately follow the archive target IP/Hostname. This means that the NFS share name might have to be exported at the root / of the NFS server.

Windows

Windows XP:

NFS client is not supported.

Windows 7 Embedded / Enterprise / Windows 7 Professional:

  1. Use the legacy control panel. Open Start Menu and start typing “control” to find and click it.
  2. Control Panel => Programs and Features => Turn Windows features on or off.
  3. Check “Services for NFS” and click OK (includes both admin tools and Client for NFS).
  4. Verify that “Client for NFS” is now listed in Services control panel. Make sure it’s set to automatic start and start it.
    (Refer to https://graspingtech.com/mount-nfs-share-windows-10/)
  5. Restart exacqVision Server service.
  6. Using the exacqVision Client, go to the Archiving panel, click New button, and verify that NFS is now available in dropdown alongside SMB.

Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012:

  1. Enable Services For NFS through the Server Manager’s Add Roles wizard.
  2. Using Service Manager, change the Client for NFS service’s Startup Type to Automatic.
  3. Execute the following command: nfsadmin client start.
  4. Restart the exacqVision Server service.
  5. Configure the NFS archive target using exacqVision Client and specify the NFS share type.

Windows Server 2016:

  1. Use the legacy control panel. Open Start Menu and start typing “control” to find and click it.
  2. Control Panel => Programs and Features => Turn Windows features on or off.
  3. Server Manager will appear and Add Roles and Features Wizard will appear.
  4. On “Before You Begin” panel click Next.
  5. On “Installation Type” panel select “role-based or feature-based installation” and click Next.
  6. On “Server Selection” panel select local server and click Next.
  7. On “Server Roles” panel just click Next to retain current settings.
  8. On “Features” panel check “Client for NFS” and click Next.
  9. Confirm and allow it to install.
  10. Verify that “Client for NFS” is now listed in Services control panel. Make sure it’s set to automatic start and start it.
    (Refer to https://www.server-world.info/en/note?os=Windows_Server_2016&p=nfs&f=3)
  11. Restart exacqVision Server service.
  12. Using the exacqVision Client, go to the Archiving panel, click New button, and verify that NFS is now available in dropdown alongside SMB.

Edge

  1. Axis devices do not support NFS.
  2. No manual steps are needed for other Edge devices. Simply use an updated version of exacqVision Server and Client.

S-Series

  1. Install the nfs-kernel-server package with sudo apt-get install nfs-kernel-server
  2. Restart exacqVision Server service.
  3. Using the exacqVision Client, go to the Archiving panel, click New button, and verify that NFS is now available in dropdown alongside SMB.
