Exacq AV1 Codec Support

Description

Exacq are in the process of adding support for the AV1 Codec.

AOMedia Video 1 (AV1) is an openroyalty-free video coding format initially designed for video transmissions over the Internet. It was developed as a successor to VP9 by the Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia),[2] a consortium founded in 2015 that includes semiconductor firms, video on demand providers, video content producers, software development companies and web browser vendors.

Axis have camera models that will utilize the AV1 codec. These cameras feature the ARTPEC-9 chip, which will be introduced in new models in Q1 2025. These include:

  • Axis Q1728
  • Axis Q1728-LE
