Using the ADVCPTZKEY1 USB Joystick / Keyboard with exacqVision

This document will guide you through step-by-step procedures for keyboard use and suggested button mappings.

Prerequisites

For proper operation of the American Dynamics ADVCPTZKEY1 PTZ USB Keyboard, both the exacqVision Client and Server must be on version 22.03 or higher.

Setup

  1. Install, or update, the exacqVision Server and Client as mentioned in Prerequisites above.<br><br>
  2. Plug the keyboard’s USB cable into the USB port on the Client viewing machine, where the keyboard will be operated from.<br><br>
  3. Navigate to the Joystick configuration page within the exacqVision Client.
    • Select the cog wheel icon in the top left-hand corner of the Client window to enter Configuration settings.
    • Expand Client from the navigation tree on the left-hand side.
    • Select Joystick from the tree to load the Joystick configuration page.<br><br>
  4. Select the joystick that appears from the drop-down menu. If the device fails to appear, close and re-open the exacqVision Client instance.

  5. Select the Calibrate button to zero out the joystick positioning.<br><br>
  6. Adjust the sensitivity to your liking.
    • X/Y Axis controls camera Pan/Tilt, while Z Axis controls zoom.
    • X Position corresponds to the jog wheel on the left of the keyboard.
    • Suggested settings include increasing the sensitivity on the X/Y Axis and Z Axis, but slightly decreasing the sensitivity on the X Position.


      In the example above, the Z Axis and X Position have also had their Invert checkboxes selected to mimic the default controls of the exacqVision Surveillance Keyboard.<br><br>
  7. Pressing any of the buttons on the keyboard will highlight that number in the button menu to help you find the corresponding mapping. You may need to scroll the window if you do not see the button highlighted when pressed.

  8. Once you have located the button, you may use the drop-down menu to select the action you wish to assign to the button. While this can be customized to your operator’s liking, a suggested mapping for new users can be found below.

  9. After applying changes to the keyboard configuration, return to the Live camera view and the controls will be available for use.

Solution  

Older versions of exacqVision Server and Client software are available on our Legacy Downloads page.  To access the Legacy Downloads page, go to https://exacq.com/reseller/Legacy/index.html

  • Enter the server’s current expiration Date in the form YYYY-MM-DD, the results will automatically be filtered to show the most recent release date for which your SSA is valid through. 
  • Expand the results and then click on the desired software to download. 
  • If a different version is desired clear the date entered and manually scroll through the available versions. 

  The license expiration date can be found using the exacqVision Client.    Note: you are always entitled to the latest exacqVision Client software regardless of the status of your license.

ExacqVision Web Service Fails to get Public URL from Relay Manager

The OpenSSL Certificate from Ubuntu that the relay service utilizes is expired

Description

Solution:

You should only see this on Ubuntu systems.

NOTE: It is assumed that the NVR has internet access.

  1. Open Terminal on the NVR, by pressing CTRL+ALT+T
  2. Enter the following commands:
  3. sudo apt-get update
  4. sudo apt-get upgrade

This will update the system repositories then update software packages to the latest versions. This may take 10-20 minutes depending on the system.

Does exacqVision Require Microsoft Silverlight?

Facial Matching – Cant add cameras to Tyco AI from Exacq

When adding cameras to Tyco AI from Exacq they look to add but disappear.

This is because the cameras are already added to the Tyco AI. Access the Tyco AI and delete the cameras here before trying to re-add.

Solution

Using LSI® Storage Authority Software (LSA)

  • Launch and login to LSA
  • If in alarm,  a popup will appear on LSI Storage Authority landing page with a hyperlink to Silence the Alarm. 
  • Click on Silence Alarm.

Using MegaRAID Storage Manager (MSM)

  • After launching and logging into MSM 
  • Click on silence alarm in the MegaRAID Storage Manager.  (MegaRAID Storage Manager -> Dashboard -> Actions -> Silence Alarm)

Steps to Reproduce

From the exacqVision Web Service landing page select Web Service Configuration  Enter username and password and click Login  

Expected Results

Web Service Administration page is displayed

Actual Results

Message “Login failed. This attempt has been logged.”

Solution

exacqVision Web Service will need to be purged i.e. completely removed including existing configuration settings and re-installed.  You will be prompted to create a new password during the install.

The Content Age section is comprised of a Desired setting for setting an event trigger target and Oldest Content which shows storage information.

Content Age


NOTE: This section is used to provide information and to set a target for triggering events.  It does not restrict or remove stored data.

Desired:  Select the target period of video that you would like to store data. If data is deleted before that target is reached, it creates an event that can trigger an action as configured on the Event Linking page.

Oldest Content: Indicates the age of the oldest video/data recorded on this system with the exception of any “At Least” storage rules or bookmarked video/data.
