M-Series – Updating exacqVision Software

In order to comply with the NDAA  “National Defense Authorization Act”, a two-step process is required to update an M-Series. First you must upgrade to version 20.03, then the server and webserver can be upgrade to the latest version. exacqVision Client versions higher than 20.03 are not supported.

  1. Install or upgrade exacqVision Server, exacqVision Client and exacqVision Web Server to version 20.03
  2. Upgrade exacqVision Server and exacqVision Web Server to version 21.09.

Note: The exacqVision Client version should not be updated past version 20.03

Upgrade Paths

Local Client – 20.03 only
Server – 20.03 > 21.09 or above
Web service – 20.03 > 21.09 or above

It has been observed that on some Q-Series Hybrid servers the exacqVision Server service will crash immediately after applying name changes to the System Audio Input/Outputs.

Workaround:

  • Purge and re-install the exacqVision Server software.
  • Manually edit the names in /usr/local/exacq/server/soundpi.xml
  • Restart edvrserver

Thin Client and Mobile App will not work when using RVW (Restricted View Window) on Camera

RVW is a new feature starting in 21.09 where you can block out parts of the video for privacy.
We currently do not have a method of supporting both at the same time. If you plan on using this feature you will lose the ability to view cameras in the thin client and the mobile app.

What you would see in the thin client would be a series of screens before being presented a black blank screen seen below.

If this feature has been enabled and prefer to use the thin client then you will need to disable this feature or you can modify the groupspi.xml.
First stop the exacq server service from running.
Link for steps on stopping services: https://support.exacq.com/#/knowledge-base/article/2341

Open notepad ++ ad the admin and select file from the location.
Windows – C:\Program Files\exacqVision\Server
Linux – usr\local\exacqVision\Server
At the bottom of the document seen below is the section we need to remove. This is what the file looks like with a camera added with this feature is enabled.

In order to modify you can remove the lines between
RestrictedViews ID=”720896″ IsSupported=”1″
AND
RestrictedView
Save the file.
Example:

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-57.png

Note: We should only have 2 lines left.
RestrictedViews ID=”720896″ IsSupported=”1″
RestrictedViews
For this example see the below picture for what should be left in the file after removing the other lines.
Example Below:

Once this change is done you will need to start the server service.

There is no work around at this current time.

Configuration for USBDIO Module with a PIEZO Speaker and Power Supply

This is a guide for configuring the client if you are powering a PIEZO Speaker from a Power Supply.

Example:

In this example we are using the Relay for triggering an event base off of IP Camera Connection in event linking.
Notice the above picture that we are using Normally Open (NO) and the COM on the USBDIO Module to trip the speaker when the state changes off the module because the speaker has power from the power supply in this example.

If this is the case then proceed with configuration of the client.

In Alarm Outputs we want to configure the The OUTPUT 1 as the NO and COM relay that we are using. See figure for Example:

Once the Alarm output is set up go to Event Linking and configure a rule.

In this example we are using Event Type IP Camera Connection for the trigger.
Event Source will be the camera that we want to monitor.
Action Type is Output Trigger.
Action Target will be the Speaker that you labeled in the Alarm Outputs (Output 1).

What this will accomplish is that when the camera is disconnected or losses power takes place the USBDIO Module will be triggered by that event of IP Camera Connection and the output relay will change state and allow the speaker to alarm via the event linking that is set up.

Override to Prevent UTC Time Zone Configuration of Samsung Cameras by the Server

Issue:

Adding a camera, disabling or re-enabling the camera, power cycling the camera, restarting the exacqVision server service, or rebooting the exacqVision Server, causes the server to set the camera’s time zone, for all cameras that allow it, to Coordinated Universal Time (also known as Universal Time Coordinated, UTC, UTC+0, UTC+00:00, “Z time”, or “Zulu Time”).  This is preferred for global video recording and playback time synchronization because UTC does not observe Daylight Savings Time (DST) changes.  This camera configuration change is therefore normal, desired, and expected behavior for video management as a whole.  However, if the expectation is that the camera’s on-screen display (OSD) must display the local time for video clip exportation in MPEG-4 (MP4) format, changing the camera’s time zone or turning off the camera’s OSD negatively impacts this use-case.

An override switch is now available for cameras that make use of the SamsungIP camera plugin (SamsungPI).

The override will prevent the server from setting the time zone on the camera to UTC+0 as would normally occur. This will only affect the camera’s internal timekeeping and its corresponding on-screen display (OSD).  The exacqVision Server’s OSD will remain unaffected and be subject to its own internal clock time zone setting.

Override commands:

To prevent the server from setting the camera’s time zone and Daylight Savings Time (DST), use:

ipaddress#timezone=camera

Example: 192.168.1.168#timezone=camera

How to use:

For a camera to be added to the exacq Server, append the #timezone=camera override command to the Hostname/IP address field of the exacqVision Client > Add IP Cameras > IP Camera Information section.  On an already connected camera, add the override to the existing camera Hostname/IP address entry, set the camera timezone through the camera’s webpage interface, and allow the camera to reconnect.

Workaround:

Here is a DEV build engineering supplied:

https://artifactory.exacq.org/artifactory/server-local/21.12.x/32289xx/3228903/

Version Fixed:

Development build 21.12.3228903

Expected Future Release build 22.03.X

Samsung / Hanwha Cameras Show “Motion Not Supported”

Before being able to manage motion windows from the exacqVision Client the following actions need to be performed within the camera’s web GUI.

  1. Enable Motion Detection
  2. Create / draw detection areas
  3. Disable then re-enable the camera within the IP Cameras List on the Add IP Cameras page

You should now be able to manage existing areas and draw new areas from within the exacqVision Client

Note: It may be necessary to factory reset the camera first.

System will not post without monitor attached

These files are only to be ran on ExacqVision Servers with the following Motherboards.

DO NOT try to run it on your machine or it will cause issues!!!

With the rise of new HIPPA requirements regarding patient information potentially being exposed on systems, a lot of customers are choosing to run their NVR’s Headless (no monitor attached). Running a Windows or Linux based System without a monitor attached on the following motherboards will cause the system not to boot.

  • H110E
  • H410
  • 1313
  • X1313
  • C236

There is a work around for it: Download the appropriate file for their OS and install it…

YOU MUST BE THE ONE TO DOWNLOAD IT AND INSTALL IT. DO NOT GIVE THIS KB TO CUSTOMER AND BAIL!!

Linux: http://artifactory.exacq.org/artifactory/seg-local/exacqdeploy/21.09.x/master/108/exacqdeploy_21.09.108.0_all.deb

Windows: http://artifactory.exacq.org/artifactory/seg-local/headlessboot-remediation/21.12.0/none/Enable-Headlessboot.exe

  • Attach Monitor back to the system
  • Boot system back up
  • Boot all the way in to Windows or Linux and then reboot
  • Unplug the monitor during the reboot process
  • DO NOT change anything else or your system will not boot!!!
