Configuring DST/non-DST via client fails

Description

Older servers/clients would allow you to configure the server’s timezone, but even though the DST radio button could be updated, it was in actuality treated as read-only, and would snap back depending upon the chosen timezone.

As of server 8.1.3, the entire list of timezones has been completely revamped, the radio button removed, and now for every timezone in the list, there are DST and non-DST flavors. Choose accordingly to enable/disable server’s auto time change.

Delay in Displaying Live Video from Integrations

Description

Specifically reported for Victor and Entrapass, but other integrations may be affected.

When requesting live video from multiple cameras through an integration that uses a separate server connection for each camera (such as Victor or Entrapass), there is a delay of ~1 sec per camera being requested before video is displayed, e.g., requesting a 9 camera view will take over 9 seconds before video is displayed.

ESM page does not load and displays an error

Affected platforms

All versions of of ESM
Symptom

If a page takes a long time to load (> 30 seconds) and an error is displayed that says: “We’re sorry. Something went wrong. Please try again or contact the System Administrator.” this indicates that the page is timing out.

This is usually due to a large number events in the database relative to the capabilities of the ESM machine.
Workaround

To increase the timeout update the following Apache configuration:
On Windows:
1) Open the file C:\exacqVisionEsm\apache_solr\apache2\conf\httpd.conf as admin
2) Find the the line that says “FastCGIExternalServer htdocs/mysite.fcgi -host 127.0.0.1:8113”
3) Change it to: “FastCGIExternalServer htdocs/mysite.fcgi -host 127.0.0.1:8113 -idle-timeout 600”
4) Open Services and restart the solrApache, solrJetty and ESMWebservice services

On Linux:
1) Open the file /usr/local/exacq/esm/apache_solr/apache2/conf/httpd.conf as admin
2) Find the the line that says “FastCGIExternalServer htdocs/mysite.fcgi -host 127.0.0.1:8113”
3) Change it to: “FastCGIExternalServer htdocs/mysite.fcgi -host 127.0.0.1:8113 -idle-timeout 600”
4) Run the command: service ESMWebservice restart
Resolution

None at this time: The timeout will be extended from a default of 30 seconds to a larger value in a future version of ESM.
